On December 2, 1962, Emil and Doris Picha began operation of the Picha Funeral Home serving the needs of the Hillsboro, Wisconsin area. Since that time the Pichas have continued to upgrade and expand the funeral home facilities and locations. The Hillsboro funeral home was expanded in the early 1990s to include a larger visitation area with more seating, display area, and offices, with a new décor throughout the building including a large display of local advertising memorabilia. The Elroy funeral
business was purchased July 1, 1983. A new location on Academy Street was built
in the mid 1990s; it includes a large seating area and comfortable surroundings
in addition to a large parking area.
Gary, the oldest son, also has funeral homes with locations in Lake Delton, Wisconsin Dells, Lyndon Station, and Oxford. All have been buildings with extensive updating providing the many areas with quality facilities to go along with the superior services. Most recently the former Port-Axtell Funeral Home in Portage was purchased by the Picha's and is currently operated by Donald Picha. In addition, at the Lyndon Station funeral home, a crematory unit is in operation.
