Thelma J. Degner, age 89 years, of rural Wonewoc, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018 at her home.
She was born on June 21, 1929 to Raymond T. and Hazel (Lawrence) Howard in Valley, Wisconsin. Thelma graduated from the La Farge High School in 1947 and later from County Normal. She taught in rural country schools for ten years.
Thelma was united in marriage to Orlo “Bud” Degner on June 2, 1962 in La Farge. They farmed in the Town of Wonewoc for many years, where in addition to her work on the farm, she enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking; also in her younger years she enjoyed the many family get togethers on the farm.
Survivors include her husband, Orlo “Bud” Degner of Wonewoc; sister, Bonnie Potter of La Farge; sisters-in-law, Jan Howard of La Crosse, Sandie Howard of La Farge, Gladys (Bill) Geier of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Edith (Wally) Ziesch of Sun Prairie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; two brothers, Thomas and Orval Howard and brother-in-law, Donald Potter.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church - 208 N East St., Wonewoc, with Rev. Wesley Jacob officiating. Friends may call at the Church on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery, La Farge at a later date.
