William E. “Willie” Cunningham, age 66 years, of rural Hillsboro, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019 at the UW Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 3, 1952 to Marvin and Lucy (Solchenberger) Cunningham in Richland County, Wisconsin. The family moved to their family farm outside of Hillsboro when Willie was an infant. Willie graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1970 and enlisted and served in the U.S. Army in 1972 for two years.
Willie was a lifelong farmer and after the passing of his father, he owned and continued operating the dairy farm until very recently.
Survivors include his siblings, Marvin Jr. (Terri) of Sachse, Texas, Rose (Ron) Remington of Wrightstown, Joseph of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Robert of Hillsboro, Richard (Arlene) of De Forest, Elizabeth (Tom) Wallace of Cashton, Geralyn (Frank) Doerre of Spring Green, Ann (Ron) Schwartz of Hortonville, Barbara Boyer of Elgin, Illinois, Victorian (Bert Jr.) Jenks of La Crosse, Patrick (Sondra) of Richland Center, Mary Miedema of Bangor and Lori (Jim Reisner) of Osceola; 33 nieces and nephews; 49 great nieces and great nephews; and 1 great great niece. He was preceded in death by his Parents and a niece, Karen Remington.
Private family funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with public visitation from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Burial with military rites will be held in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery – Dilly. The Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting with arrangements.
