Elsie A. Sebranek, age 86 years, of rural Hillsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.
She was born on April 17, 1931 to Edward and Pauline (Rott) Birdd in Woodland Township, Sauk County, Wisconsin. She graduated from the Wonewoc High School.
Elsie was united in marriage to Donald H. Sebranek on June 12, 1951 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Wonewoc. They farmed near Hillsboro for many years. In addition to her work on the farm, Elsie cooked for many years at Country Style Cookin’ and for the Hillsboro Schools. Don preceded her in death on September 5, 2010.
Elsie was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Altar Society and National Catholic Foresters. She loved her family and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and teaching her grandchildren how to make the various Czech treats. She also annually helped make items for the Cesky Den Bakery.
Survivors include her children, Thomas (Rita) Sebranek of Houston, MN and Ann (Kirby) Wong of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Nathan McCloskey, Daniel (Jessica) McCloskey, Joshua (Jessica) Sebranek, Benjamin (Carly) Wong, Sarah (Brandon) Hockers and Rebecca Wong; great grandchildren, Layla and Parks McCloskey, Grace and Tess Sebranek, and Elliott Wong.
In addition to her husband, Donald; she was preceded in death by her Parents; daughter, Kathleen and son-in-law, Donald McCloskey; daughter-in-law, Susan Sebranek; and two sisters, Emma Hartje and Julia Baldwin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:30
a.m. at the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Hillsboro, with Father Don Bauer
officiating. Burial will be in the Mount
Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro. Friends
may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.,
with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7 p.m. and at the Church on Saturday from
10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
