Mayme O. Ewers, age 98 years, of Elroy, Wisconsin, picked a beautiful day, during the blue blood moon lunar event on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, to reunite with her husband, the love of her life.
She was born on April 25, 1919 to John and Mary (Daughenbaugh) Frawley in the Town of Akin, Richland County, Wisconsin and graduated from the Richland Center High School. Mayme was united in marriage to Lewis Ewers on November 10, 1940 and lived in Elroy since 1962. He preceded her in death on February 24, 1990.
Mayme worked as a nursing assistant at area nursing homes and also cared for people in their homes. She enjoyed animals, especially cats and dogs.
Mayme was an active member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elroy and assisted with the funeral lunches held at the Church. She also served with the American Legion Auxiliary in Elroy.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lou Ewers Hiner of Reedsburg and Jo Ann (Larry) Reed of Beloit; grandchildren, Bill, Roy and Jim Hiner and Jody Baumann; great grandchildren, Bart, Justin and Jayme Baumann, Laura Hiner and James (Ryanne) Hiner Jr. and great great grandchildren, Andrew and Lilliann Baumann.
In addition to her husband, Lewis, whom she dearly missed; she was preceded in death by her Parents; daughter, Danielle “Nancy” (Jim) Chase; son-in-law, Jim Hiner; sisters, Evella Gochenaur and Dorothy Falknor and brother, Ernie Frawley.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elroy. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Richland Center. Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Elroy on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m.
