Leo J. Styzen, 92 years of age, of Chicago, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at his daughter’s home in rural Hillsboro, WI where he had been residing for the past two years.
He was born on May 10, 1926 to Leo and Elizabeth (Wieczorek) Styzen in Chicago. Leo graduated from the University of Illinois School of Pharmacy. He served in the U.S. Army in 1946 & 1947.
Leo was united in marriage on October 7, 1950 to Elizabeth “Betty” Jane Hughes, who also was born and raised in Chicago.
Leo worked at Wittes Pharmacy in Chicago for 20 years before purchasing the drug store with Betty (also a pharmacist) in 1970 which they then owned and operated until selling the business to their daughter in 1983.
Leo and Betty had 4 children of their own before hosting many foreign exchange students over the years. They loved spending time with their family and took many exciting adventures across the globe.
Survivors include his children, Patricia (Barry) Williams, Michael (Suchit) Styzen, Kathleen Styzen and Eileen (Mike) Szafraniec; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jack) McGrane, Jeremy Evans, Jason Williams, Sarah Williams, Rebecca Williams, Andrea (Justin) Meacham, Valerie (Chris) Judalet, Adam (Brandy) Styzen, Zane Szafraniec, Ron Smith, Noah Styzen, Luke Szafraniec, Cole Szafraniec, Reid Szafraniec and Carlos Orellana; many great-grandchildren; sister, Addie (Jerry) Neufeld; niece, Karen (Mike) Sorbel and niece, Chris (Dan) Zyburt.
In addition to his wife, Betty, who passed away on March 11, 2015; he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arthur (Marilyn) Styzen.
