Marie J. Hooker, age 87 of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away at Milestone Senior Living, Memory Care Unit in Hillsboro on Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
She was born on January 5, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Snorek) Hooker on the family farm in Greenwood Township, Vernon County. Edward (Bud) Hooker of Hillsboro was her twin brother and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2014.
Marie grew up on the family farm and remained there for many years working closely with other family members. When her mother became ill, they moved to the city of Hillsboro and Marie got a job in the kitchen at the St Joseph's Hospital where she worked until she retired. She owned and maintained her own home where she enjoyed gardening, family and friend visits and for many years she traveled to Tomah to visit her sister at the Tomah Healthcare Center. She also loved to dance, play cards, travel and enjoyed 11 years with her special friend, George W. "Jud" Murdock. In recent years, Marie lived at Milestone Senior Living, Memory Care Unit where she received excellent care from the staff and also from Agrace Hospice Care.
Survivors are nieces and nephews and their families, Brian and Shirley (Hooker) Richardson, Ron and June (Skala) Hooker, Roger Libansky, Jim and Jan (Levy) Hooker, Albert Hooker, Tom Hooker and Terry and Carol (Hooker) Schwartz and sister-in-law, Bonnie Hooker.
Marie was preceded in death by her Parents, brothers, Marvin (Agnes), Donald (Marie), Elgin (Sylvia), Edward “Bud”, infant William; sister, Bessie (Ernest) Wopat, niece, Barbara (Hooker) Libansky, nephew, Larry Hooker, and niece, Denise Hooker.
Friends may call at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro on Saturday, December 8, 2018 from 12 – 1:30 p.m., with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m., Pastor Alan Tripp will be officiating. Burial will be at the Czech's National Cemetery near Yuba following the service.
