Shirley M. Husom, age 83 years, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, Denise, Doug, Dawn, Amber and Mike.
She was born on November 30, 1936 to Robert and Helen (Orsburne) Fanta in the Town of Union, Vernon County, Wisconsin. Shirley graduated from the Hillsboro High School. She was united in marriage to Lenis Husom on January 15, 1955. They lived in Hillsboro for many years, he preceded her in death on April 10, 1993.
Shirley worked at Ray-O-Vac in Wonewoc for 31 years, until her retirement in 2001.
She loved the summertime and being outdoors. She enjoyed working in her garden, taking care of the lawn and growing flowers. She adored her shopping trips with granddaughter, Amber and county music concerts with her family. She enjoyed her accordion and piano playing alongside her parents and siblings, and singing around the campfire.
Survivors include her children, Denise (Randy) Campbell of Waterloo, Douglas Husom of Boscobel and Dawn Husom of Viroqua; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremy, Joseph, Crystal, Amber, Patrick, Dylan and Adam; eight Great Grandchildren; brother, Ronald Fanta and sisters, Mary Lou Filter and Linda (Geno) Rosko.
In addition to her husband, Lenis; she was preceded in death by her Parents; son, Donovan Husom; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Husom; sisters, Betty Douglass, Barbara Hatfield, Karen Minett and Cheryl Jean Fanta and brothers, Robert Fanta and Ernest “Dick” Fanta.
A graveside memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.
