Patrick Lee Schmieder peacefully passed away at his home in Valley, Wisconsin on the morning of Thursday, July 9, 2020.
Pat was born in Tomah, Wisconsin to Leonard and Elreda Schmieder on April 18, 1953. He graduated from Tomah Senior High in 1971.
He was an avid bowler, who worked at Vlasak’s Bowling Alley which ultimately began his various employment experiences. He took great pride in the work he did no matter how small the job. He was always helping others however he could and knew to take the time to appreciate the things that mattered most. He was an animal lover and had five small dogs in his last years. His most beloved pet, Gordy, a golden retriever, was always by his side until his passing in 2015.
Pat was a loving Father and a great Grandfather, his daughter, Heather Lynn (Henry) Wilcox, has three children, Haley Lynn Hartwell, Forest Lee Hartwell and Hannah Marie Wilcox. Pat also had a stepson, Damian Miller who preceded him in death. His siblings include, Kathy (Bruce) Fischer, Susan (Victor) Gottbeheat, Elreda Anne (Stan) Williams and Jerome Marciniak and he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Schmieder. He also had many nieces and nephews.
Pat danced to the beat of a different drummer. His lifestyle was considered unconventional by many standards. He loved life and spent his days gardening, cycling and enjoying his land, collecting treasures while listening to the Grateful Dead. He was a legended rebel, free soul in his community of the Kickapoo Valley and will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Veteran’s Memorial Park in Hillsboro.
